Medical History on a Flashdrive?

Kaiser Permanente’s Oakland Medical Center piloted a program that gives its patients their whole medical histories on portable flash drives- you know, the kind that fit on your keychain. It’s a growing trend in hospitals around the country. But there is the possibility of losing or misplacing the drive- what happens then? They’re advertised as being safe because they’re password encrypted. But how safe are they?
