In the Black community, the Barbershop or Beauty Salon is much more than a place where you get your hair cut. It’s a center of culture and community. And black hair isn’t just what’s on your head, it’s an issue. And that’s the subject of an exhibit at the Richmond Arts Center titled, “Barbershop: “Good Hair/Bad Hair” Smack Down (This Time it's Personal)”. I visited the exhibit, set up as a real barbershop and salon, and interviewed its creators who wanted to talk about black hair.
